Ready, Set, Hunt Those Eggs

Children gathered behind the Akron Elementary and Middle School Saturday morning for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Akron Lionesses, who brought the annual event back last year, moved the hunt from Akron Falls Park to Akron Central School due to the county park’s closure. Many of those in attendance noted that the new location was great. The Lionesses were out early hiding enough eggs for everyone to find at least one. Children filled the hockey and soccer fields searching for those special eggs which earned them a top prize. The Easter bunny was on hand to give everyone a treat and to have a photo, or two, taken with those in attendance.


Board of Education finalizes new budget

A 2005-2006 budget of $23,995,000.00 was finalized by the Akron Central School Board of Education on March 24.


Friends plan spring used book sale

The Friends of the Newstead Public Library recently announced that the SPRING USED BOOK SALE will be held April 27 through April 30 at the library in the meeting room.


Wildlife Refuge open weekends

Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge in Alabama, New York has announced that the refuge visitor contact station at refuge headquarters is open on weekends from through the month of May from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday
