Ready to Roll

Newstead Town Supervisor Jerry Summe has announced fields will be available for the Akron Soccer League Tournament later this month. Breaking off negotiations with Erie County officials when he was unable to get straight answers, Supervisor Summe said he stopped an effort to open up the soccer and baseball complex in Akron Falls Park and called out the “heavy rollers” to prepare fields on the Newstead Town Park so the soccer season can begin as planned. Supervisor Summe said he was able to borrow rollers from Cold Spring Construction and Erie County to prepare the fields. The rolling will continue as soon as the snow clears. Mr. Summe indicated he will meet with Superintendent of Schools Ronald G. DeCarli to see if fields at the school can be used as well.
