Ready for the next phase of their education

Akron Parents Association Pre-School students participated in a fun and information graduation ceremony at Akron First Untied Methodist Church last month. The students shared some of the many skills they have learned at APA and celebrated their accomplishments with family and friends.

Memorial Day

Scouts and Leaders from Boy Scout Troop 559 placed flags along Main Street last week in preparation for Memorial Day observances. They followed the Akron Village Department of Public Works crews which hung flower baskets which will add much to the main business district throughout the summer.

An Unexpected Abrupt Stop

AN UNEXPECTED ABRUPT STOP by a school bus carrying children from Buffalo School 62 to the Kelkenberg Farm on Stage Road, led to a call for first aid Tuesday morning. Newstead Fire Company volunteers responded to check everyone out to make sure there were no injuries. The children had a great look at spring on the farm, complete with an introduction to twin goats born just before their arrival.

Akron teen to compete for Miss Teen Buffalo title

Leanna Sue Homesberger of Akron was recently selected to participate in Nationals’ 2005 Miss Teen Buffalo pageant competition that will take place on June 19, 2005.

Schumer cites contamination of Akron well as reason to fight energy bill

A MTBE spill, which contaminated the Village of Akron well near the water tank on Crittenden Road, is one reason Senator Charles E. Schumer is trying to block an energy bill just passed by the House of Representatives.
