All area residents can benefit from some simple tips for reducing usage

Any conservation measures Village of Akron electric customers can take during this frigid weather will help everyone. Superintendent of Public Works Robert Kowalik notes that balancing power usage (for example: washing and drying clothes during evening hours, instead of during peak daytime hours) and conserving power will help keep the system flowing properly, reduce problems with ttansformers, and save village customers money in the long run. Reporting to Village Board members on Monday night, Superintendent Kowalik noted that peak power usage in the Village on Monday was 1 million more watts than the peak last week. Peak usage rates impact the cost of electricity throughout the year.
