District Superintendent sends package supporting SRO to Governor

Letters from students, faculty and staff, and administrators hoping to persuade Governor Spitzer to maintain the current School Resource Officer program were packaged together and sent to Albany by Akron School Superintendent, Robin Zymroz. Mrs. Zymroz added additional documents, including resolutions from the Town of Newstead and the Board of Education, noting their desire to retain the presence of specially trained Resource Officers in 118 state school districts, including Akron.


Informational meeting on Open Space preservation planned Tuesday

The Town of Newstead Conservation Advisory Council will host a public information meeting on the preservation of open space and farmland in the Akron High School Auditorium on Tuesday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. Newstead Town Board members supported the Conservation Councilís plans for the information meeting after receiving information on a survey conducted last fall which indicated residents would like more information on the subject.


Revisions in projected revenues continue as ACS budget develops

Budget Advisory Committee members received revised figures for the proposed 2008-2009 budget last week as school officials do their best to determine what state aid projections are reasonable.
