Akron-Newstead Senior Citizens News

The ground breaking for the new senior center took place on Monday. A large number of seniors were on hand to participate in this historic event! On behalf of all the seniors, a big thank you to the Akron-Newstead community for your support.


Akron students do well on Math A test

No Akron Central seniors will walk across the stage Friday night with a question over their heads relative to the required Math A Regents exam. All of Akronís seniors successfully completed the Math A requirement, most of them by tenth grade, and are unaffected by the current controversy over this yearís Regents exam.


Constable positions eliminated in Town of Newstead

Newstead Town Board members voted to dissolve the position of Town Constable at their June 23 meeting.


Damage at Newstead Town Park may prompt action

Newstead Town Board members may make changes at the Newstead Town Park on Buell Street. Superintendent of Highways Jim Ebersole told Board members Monday night that there are a number of problems at the park, including garbage not placed in cans provided, destruction of a tree, and driving over grassy areas near the playground.


Drainage issues on Town agenda

The Newstead Town Board is considering a number of issues related to drainage in the Town of Newstead.


Parkview Road Bridge closed, work on Parkview Drive set to begin

The Parkview Road bridge was closed by the Erie County Department of Public Works Division of Highways last week. Detours are in place and design work is being completed for the replacement of the bridge.


Performances continue for Akron producer

Akron native Matt Slazak is producing his third play at the Marie Maday theatre on Main St. in Buffalo.


Town of Newstead updates Driveway/entrance policy

Town of Newstead residents considering putting in a driveway will need to look over an updated driveway/entrance policy. Newstead Town Board members adopted the updated policy at their meeting June 23.
