Akron First UMC recognizes service of volunteer fire companies

Highlighting the part of stewardship that is service to others, the First United Methodist Church of Akron recognized members of the Akron and Newstead Fire Companies during their 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday morning, November 30.


Eagle Scouts

With family and friends present and letters of congratulation from all levels of government including current and past Presidents of the United States and the Village of Akron Mayor and Eagle Scout Ray Perkins and The Newstead Town Board, the Pope, and many others, Milton Sheehan and Louis Post took their oaths as Eagle Scouts, pinned their parents, and received their Eagle Scout pin during a special ceremony Saturday evening.


RT. 5 crash ends high-speed chase

An 8:35 a.m. crash near the intersection of Route 5 and South Newstead Road in the Town of Newstead ended a high-speed chase originating in the Town of Batavia Friday, November 28.
