Citizen of the Year Dinner to honor David Wakeman

Airport to remain non-conforming use in a R-A district

Over two years of work to create an airport zone in the Town of Newstead ended Monday night.


Corrected . . . but not satisfied.

Please recall that the Christian Airmen’s Association, owner of the Akron Airport, has applied (in the year 2000) for a multi-phase expansion program. As of this date, the main runway system has seen improvements to the taxiway and lighting system. Along the way, it was discovered that the airport property required an update in ”zoning” before further expansions could be considered.

Maybe last week when Tom Golisano rolled out phrases like "tremendous progress" and "hard not to get excited", confusion had set in. For it was his multi-billion dollar company Paychex recently that announced its third quarter revenues had jumped almost 20 percent, and overall net income was up a lusty 13 percent.

New town hall purchase, great idea! Or is it? This question will be debated for some time, I'm sure. I sat on the town board and was part of a study with the village that was called the Town and Village Master Plan. I also sat on the town board and viewed a study done on the town facilities.
