Two Tiger Tracksters to compete at States

Several members of the Lady Tigers track team traveled to Niagara-Wheatfield to compete in the sectional meet on Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29. The girls had some outstanding performances, highlighted by two members of the team qualifying for the state meet.


Reptiles visit Cub Scout Pack 531 Blue and Gold Banquet

Turtles, snakes, lizards, and an alligator were all part of .Cub Scout Pack 531’s Blue and Gold banquet held Friday night, May 21.


Packed Hanger

The annual Memorial Day pancake breakfast at the Akron Airport was a flying success. The breakfast is sponsored by the Civil Air Patrol. Pete Pesaresi of Cambria was kept bust flippin' flap jacks to a, what seemed to be, never ending line of hungry customers.


All who served remembered with gratitude at local Memorial Day service

The 2004 Memorial Day Observance in Akron and Newstead was held in grateful memory of “all who served.”


ACS Scholastic Recognition dinner honors over one hundred students

Akron Central School honored one hundred and ten students at their 17th Annual Scholastic Recognition dinner on May 25, 2004. Mr. Paul Barone, President of the Akron School Board, Ms. Candy Kruschke, Akron Faculty Association Rep., and High School Principal Mr. Joseph Lucenti greet honorees and those attending the dinner with them.


Akron hosts two major events on June 12

The Village of Akron is a place to be on Saturday, June 12 as it hosts the twenty-third annual Akron Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale and Craft Show and the Fifth Annual Relay for Life.


Nine teachers receive tenure at Akron Central

The Akron Central School Board of Education granted tenure status to nine teachers during their May 26 meeting and held a reception in their honor.
