ACTS Presents two Christmas tales

The Alden Christian Theater Society, 1470 Church Street in the Village of Alden, will present two beloved Christmas stories, The Littlest Angel and The Gift of the Magi, on December 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on each evening. There will also be matinees on Sundays, December 9 and 16, at 2:30 p.m.

The Akron Bugle schedule for December reflects some time off.

Annual Community Christmas event welcomes all

All are welcome to participate in the annual Community Christmas this Saturday, December 8. The parade with Santa, which begins at Akron Central School and ends at the Gazebo in Russell Park, Main Street, Akron, is set for 11:30 a.m.

Board of Education continues budget building process

The budget building process continued for the Akron Central School Board of Education last week as they heard budget requests from two department heads. Over a number of workshops the Board will hear budget proposals and rationale for increases from all department heads as they work to develop a budget for 2007-2008.


This year’s Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Party hosted by Michael and Marybeth Whiting helped stock the Akron-Newstead Food Pantry shelves this holiday season.

Residents seek clarification on proposed building project

Approximately fifty residents attended Tuesday night’s public hearing regarding the proposed building project at Akron Central, with about ten asking questions.

Residents silent on Village Outdoor Furnace law

No one appeared at Monday night’s Akron Village Board public hearing on a proposal to ban outdoor furnaces in the Village of Akron.

Sewer Moratorium extended, available permits increased

Akron Village board members increased the number of building permits available for new construction needing sewer hookups to fifty on Monday night, and extended the moratorium limiting those permits for six months.

Village snow removal policies may change

Currently an Akron Village Board committee is reviewing snow removal policies and Monday night, Board members approved a Public Hearing date of January 7 to hear comments on those proposals.
