Those interested in attending two concerts in Russell Park for the price of one, are invited to come at 6:30 p.m. tonight. With perfect concert going weather predicted for the evening, everyone in attendance will enjoy the music under a partly sunny sky with comfortable temperatures.
There is no admission charge and the audience can enjoy the sounds of strings as Akron and Lancaster students perform and the sounds of a full concert band as the Akron Community Band takes to the stage at 8 p.m.
Strings
The Summer Orchestra, under the Direction of Miss Holly Meides, Mrs. Marie Tokasz, and Mrs. Debra Komosinski will perform La Petite Danseuse, Them and Us, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Frog in a Tree, and Royal Scepter.
Akron Students participating in Summer Orchestra include: Rosemarie Baumler, Emma Conway, Alyssa Herod, Ellie Nunn, Anna Pisano, Mackenzie Soika, Tori Triaga, Maria Westphal, and Brandon Wolrich playing Violin I; Carmeron Harsch, Alyssa Herod, Marissa Kowalik, Alex Koch, Tori Meyer, Jennifer Sescil, and Danielle Voight playing Violin II; Emily Dees, Jon Denzler, and Anna Molitor playing Viola; Jeff Britton and Hannah Cummings playing Cello, and Zach Cleversley playing String Bass.

Advanced String Ensemble will play Variations on an Irish Tune, The sound of Music Highlights, Two Songs of Newfoundland, A Day at Disneyland, and Potpourri For Strings under the direction of Miss Holly Meides and Mrs. Marie Tokasz.
Akron Students participating in the Advanced Strings group include: Miss Rachel Bierasinski playing Violin I, Jillian Staebell playing Violin II, and Jessica Cobti playing String Bass.
Lancaster orchestra members participating in the Advanced Strings group include: Allison Blakeley, Kevin Goddard, Miss Meghan Joyce, Nikki Morris, Kaitlin Schrimmel, Gretchen Throm, Stephen Tusznio, Maria Warren, and Ryan Zeiger playing Violin I; Kelly Bucklaew, Jessica Cason, Ziheng Cui, Abigail Kovalick, Natalie Nadolny, Alexis Sorrentino, Julia Sortisio, and Mrs. Marie Tokasz playing Violin II; Sarah Collins, Nicole Gorski, Nathan Marlow, Elizabeth Varga, and Jennifer Zahlhas playing Viola; Luke Borkowski, Kristen Petrusheshy, Conor Sullivan, Alexis Walker, and Jason Zhou playing Cello; and Sean Dimmig and Nick Myers playing String Bass. Also playing with the Advanced String Ensemble are Mr. Thomas Mudd and Joe Tokasz.
Several music teachers and other adult performers are assisting with this year's Summer Orchestra performance including: Mr. Thomas Mudd on Violin I & II, Miss Nicole Bell on Viola, Teresa Tokasz, Amanda Wolf, Mrs Marie Tokasz on Violin II (Advanced) and Joe Tokasz on String Bass (Advanced).
Community Band
Akron Community Band will begin their concert at 8 p.m. Friday night under the direction of James F. Gerber.
The 50 plus member Concert Band will present a program of marches, show tunes, pop numbers, and novelty selections.
Akron Community Band concerts are sponsored by the Village of Akron and Town of Newstead.
All are invited to bring a chair, or blanket and enjoy a summer evening of music in Russell Park.
Refreshments
The Akron Lioness will have their Pies in the Park and the grill will be on to prepare hot dogs and hamburgers for those coming to enjoy dinner or a light snack during the concert.
