21st Century featured at Friday’s ACB concert
Akron Community Band will feature music from the 21st Century as they continue to celebrate 100 years of music on Friday night.
The Band will present the concert in the Russell Park Gazebo, Main Street, Akron at 8 p.m. Friday, August 4 under the direction of Holly Meides and Karlyn Backus. They will return to featuring the decades with this seventh of eight scheduled concerts in their 100th season.
Upcoming concerts
Remaining concerts, sponsored by the Village of Akron, Town of Newstead, and County of Erie begin at 8 p.m. in the Russell Park gazebo, Main St., Akron on August 4 and Friday, August 11 as the band continues their journey through the decades.
All concerts are free to the public. Lawn chairs and blankets are recommended. There is some seating available in Russell Park.
The band presents varied programs with marches, show tunes, novelty numbers, overtures, pop tunes, and others.
There is no rain location this year. The band does everything possible to get a concert in each Friday night. Unless the radar shows there is no possibility of clearing by 8 p.m. the band will not cancel the concert prior to its scheduled start.
Treats
The Newstead Historical Society will be in the refreshment stand with a variety of delicious treats for concert goers to purchase. Different organizations offer refreshments each Friday night.
