Investigation continues into fatal crash on Thruway in Newstead

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on September 4, 2026, State Police assigned to Troop T, SP Buffalo responded to a motor vehicle crash on the New York State Thruway (I-90) in the town of Newstead. Investigation revealed that a 2018 Volvo tractor trailer was traveling westbound when it collided with a disabled 2012 Chevy pickup truck that was on the right shoulder.  The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. State Police looking for public assistance in fraud investigation

The New York State Police – SP Clarence Bureau of Criminal Investigation have an ongoing fraudulent financial investigation where we are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying additional victims to a fraudulent financial activity.  It is believed the fraudulent transactions are connected to purchases made at a fast-food establishment on Transit Road in the town of Clarence in between the dates of January 15, 2026 – April 10, 2026.  SP Clarence Investigators urge individuals to carefully review their credit card and debit card statements to specifically look for any unauthorized or suspicious transactions listed under the business name of “Jays Creates”

Water discoloration due to garage fire

Local First responders called to scene of bus crash on I-90

East Pembroke, Millgrove, Newstead, Akron, and Wolcottsville were among local fire companies called to assist following a serious bus crash on the NYS Thruway Friday afternoon. The New York State Police are investigating the crash that occurred on Interstate 90 eastbound between exits 48A and 49 in the town of Pembroke, Genesee County. Preliminary reports indicate the bus, carrying more than 50 passengers, overturned. Multiple individuals have been injured, with several confirmed fatalities.
