Westshore Market brings local vendors to Russell Park each week

By Anne Santor The Westshore Farmers Market brings a variety of local vendors and items to Russell Park every Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. alongside Cruise Night. The West Shore Farmers Market began in 2021 on Eckerson Ave. in the area where the West Shore railroad formerly ran and was held every Sunday. The location of the market on Eckerson did not bring in enough customers to retain vendors so the decision was made to move to Russell Park and continue on Sundays.  The change did not adequately increase the customer base, so the Market moved to Thursday

Village of Akron waterline break repaired

Village of Akron reports that the leak in Erie County Akron Falls Park has been repaired. All paused water services have been resumed. Discolored water is to be expected as pressure is restored to the distribution system. They thank everyone for their patience. The Village of Akron water department repaired a large water leak within the Erie County Akron Falls Park which occurred earlier in the day.

Commemorative 250 Coins offered at Museum tour

The Newstead Historical Society is giving Commemorative Coins to the first 100 people to take a tour of their museums on the Fourth of July. Food, Music, and Fireworks on tap July 3 Activities and Parades on July 4

Akron Community Band will present their Friday night concert in Veterans Park, Buell Street, Akron beginning at 7 p.m. on July 3.  They will share several patriotic pieces prior to the Akron Celebration Committee Fireworks.  Food Vendors will serve a variety of items in Veterans Park from 5 to 9 p.m.   Fireworks begin after dusk. All are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. “America 250” “America 250” is the theme for this year’s Akron Celebration Committee Fourth of July Kiddie and Gala parade. Village of Akron continues addressing discoloration of water

The Village of Akron announced yesterday that in the last few days, the Village water system needed to adjust flows outside of a normal range which stirred up water in the transmission main between Akron’s water treatment plant and distribution system in the village. DPW staff flushed hydrants throughout the day, and Erie County Health Department was briefed on the situation. Surveillance samples were taken to the public health lab on May 20.
