Akron Celebration Committee seeks ideas and volunteers for Fourth of July

The Akron Celebration Committee is looking for organizations and individuals to participate in our “Home Town” festivities in Russell Park on July 4th.

“We already have plans in place for the soapbox derby and power wheels race,” Chair Kathryn Capan said.  “We are looking for new ideas and additional activities before and after the parade.”

“Do you have a talent for Face Painting? Ever assisted with a Chalk Art contest, Pie contest or a Baby contest? Are you a craft of food vendor? These are some of the activities we’d like to add, but need community support to make them happen,” Capan shared.

If you are part of an organization, church group, Scout Troup or athletic group that would like to take part in any of these activities, or have other ideas to add to the festivities, please attend the Celebration Committee’s next meeting, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Newstead Public Library, Main Street, Akron. Inquires can also be sent to akroncelebration@gmail.com. Visit the committee’s website www.celebrateakron.org and Facebook page for updates.
