Akron Community Band presents concert this Friday

Akron Community Band (ACB) will present their second concert of the 2021 season in the Russell Park Gazebo, Main Street, Akron at 8 p.m. under the direction of Holly Meides and Karlyn Backus.  Concerts continue each Friday night through August 13.

Underway are plans for the July 23 Christmas in July concert.  All are invited to get your Christmas ideas for the annual audience Christmas display contest ready.  More details soon.

There is no rain location this year.  The band does everything possible to get a concert in each Friday night.  Unless the radar shows there is no possibility of clearing by 8 p.m. the band will not cancel the concert prior to its scheduled start.

Their first concert of the season was played on July 2 to an appreciative audience. Concerts, sponsored by the Village of Akron, Town of Newstead, and County of Erie begin at 8 p.m. in the Russell Park gazebo, Main St., Akron on Friday, July 9; Friday, July 16, Friday, July 23, Friday, July 30, Friday, August 6; Friday, August 13.

All concerts are free to the public.  Lawn chairs and blankets are recommended.  There is some seating available in Russell Park.

The band presents varied programs with marches, show tunes, novelty numbers, overtures, pop tunes, and others.
