Akron-Newstead Garden Walk to Benefit Senior Dog Sanctuary

One of Akron’s summer traditions will help senior dogs in need.

The Akron-Newstead Garden Walk takes place on Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring 11 private gardens and two public spaces across the village and surrounding area. Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a free, self-guided tour showcasing the beauty, creativity and community spirit of local gardeners.

Highlights include the Akron Falls Rock Garden, nestled within Akron Falls Park, and the historic Rich-Twinn Octagon House, surrounded by lush, 19th-century-inspired plantings.

New this year, the event will raise funds for White Whiskers Senior Dog Sanctuary, a Western New York nonprofit that provides adoption of and lifelong care to older dogs. Donations will be accepted online and at each garden along the walk. To make a donation now, please visit https://linktr.ee/akronnewsteadgardens

Printed garden maps are available starting July 12 at: CW Native Plant Farm; Bedford’s Greenhouse; Market on Main; and Martin’s Mercantile.

The event is presented by CW Native Plant Farm, Akron Lady Lions and Flexlume, with additional support from Bedford’s Greenhouse, Brian and Jayne Perry, Market on Main, Martin’s Mercantile and Akron Optical. A portion of sponsorship proceeds go to White Whiskers.
