Akron Tigers 13u split games over the weekend
Come from behind win
The Akron Tigers 13u baseball team came from behind to beat Central Amherst 9-6 on Friday night.
Brodie Tedesco was the starting pitcher for the Tigers. Tedesco gave up no runs on one hit in the first inning. Aiden Romesser led off with a double for the Tigers and later scored on a hit by Vinny Consiglio.
Central Amherst scored three runs on three hits in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the second, Brayden Lamont singled and was followed by walks from Cameron Wild and Mason Massaro. Tedesco singled and drove in a run to cut Central Amherst’s lead to 3-2. Coy Patterson came in to pitch for the Tigers, striking out two batters in two innings of work. The Tigers were down 6-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. With two outs, Tedesco and Romesser both reached on errors and Patterson drew a walk to load the bases. Nick Salmon drove in two runs with a single to bring the Tigers within two runs, 6-4.
Next in to pitch for the Tigers was Ryan Owen. Owen gave up zero runs in the fifth, striking out one batter. In the bottom of the fifth Anthony Consiglio doubled and later scored on a balk to bring the Tigers within one run 6-5. Owen pitched a scoreless sixth inning for the Tigers. Massaro led off the bottom of the sixth with a single and the bases were loaded after Tedesco and Patterson drew walks. Vinny Consiglio then drove in two runs with a double to put Akron ahead 7-6. The Tigers would score two more runs on an error to take the lead 9-6. Anthony Consiglio pitched the seventh for the Tigers giving up no runs to earn the save as the Tigers won 9-6.
Fall to Dirtbags
The Tigers next game was a 3-2 loss to the Dirtbags. Aiden Romesser got the start on the mound for the Tigers. Romesser gave up no runs, one hit, struck out four, and walked one batter in two innings.
The Consiglio brothers, Vincent and Anthony, had back to back singles to start the bottom of the second. Then Brayden Lamont singled scoring Vincent to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Nick Salmon came in to pitch for the Tigers and gave up no runs in his first two innings. Salmon had four strike outs and zero walks.
The Tigers threatened to score in the bottom of the 4fourthth with Anthony Consiglio doubling and Brayden Lamont singling, but could not score any runs. In the top of the fifth, the Tigers defense had some unfortunate bounces as the Dirtbags scored three runs on four errors to take a 3-1 lead.
The Tigers threatened again in the bottom of the fifth with Mason Massaro and Romesser each drawing walks, but again could not plate any runs. Massaro pitched a scoreless sixth inning for the Tigers with some help from his defense on putouts by third baseman Nick Salmon, first baseman Brayden Lamont, and a catch by outfielder Ryan Owen. The Tigers would score one run on a Dirtbag error in the bottom of the sixth to bring them within one run 3-2. Vincent Consiglio pitched the seventh inning and gave up no runs to keep the deficit to one run for the Tigers. The Tigers failed to score in the bottom of the seventh ending the game with a 3-2 loss.
