Annajean Blackchief

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Annajean Blackchief, on July 15, 2024. She was born in Batavia, New York, on June 27, 1946 to the late Uriah and Elaine (Moses) Printup. 

Annajean was a woman of rare strength, and had a deep sense of dedication to everything she undertook. As a Clerical Aide, she served the Akron Central School District with unwavering commitment until her retirement.

Her generosity and humility were as legendary as her love for her family, friends, and her dear dog, Leo. Annajean’s love for people was infectious, and she was a pillar of her community. She was a respected member of the Turtle Clan of the Tonawanda Indian Reservation and a devout member of the Tonawanda Indian Baptist Church. 

Beloved wife of Lance Blackchief; loving mother of the late Derek (Becky) Blackchief and Allison (Lester) Przybyl; cherished grandmother of BreeAnn, Ian, and Asa Blackchief; proud great-grandmother of, Hillton Scrogg, Aisley Scrogg, and Morey Ground III. Annajean is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Hubert Blackchief and George Jones, Jr. as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Derek, and her two sisters, Sharon Brayley and Adrienne Printup.

A Gathering of Family and Friends was held at 546 Bloomingdale Road, from 6:00 PM Thursday, July 18, 2024 until the time of the Funeral Service. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Tonawanda Indian Baptist Church, 565 Bloomingdale Road, Basom, NY.
