Budget passes, Polkowski and Kenline re-elected to Akron Central School Board of Education

Akron Central School Board of Education voters approved a $32,597,101.25 budget for 2021-22 budget on Tuesday night with 331 yes votes to 81 no votes.  There were a total of 418 voters casting ballots.

Five candidates sought election to two seats to be filled on Akron Central School Board of Education. 

Incumbent Erik Polkowski was elected with 221 votes; Philip Kenline was re-elected with 197 votes. Jacob Halleck received 144 votes, Erin Behm received 102 votes, and Lisa Giallella 78 votes.  The elected members will take office in July.

Voters also authorized the District to purchase school buses and similar vehicles (and related equipment) for use in the transportation program of the District, including three (3) sixty-six (66)-passenger buses, at an estimated maximum cost of $121,000 each, and one (1) van-type bus, at an estimated maximum cost of $63,000 (with such estimated maximum cost reflecting the value of any trade-ins), and to expend therefor an aggregate sum not to exceed $426,000 to be funded property taxes and New York State Transportation Aid funds.  That vote was 315 yes, 76 no.
