The Newstead Town Board will hold a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 14 at the Town Hall, 5 Clarence Center Road. The meeting is preceded by a work session at 6:45 p.m.

The annual Akron Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale is planned for Saturday, June 19 in the Main Street business district from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plans include live music, a basket raffle, games, vendors, and local business participation. Participants can sign up on the Akron Chamber of Commerce website. There is no charge for local organizations, churches, and businesses with store fronts on Main Street. Vendors will have a fee. Volunteers to help on Friday evening and/or Saturday are welcome.
The Akron School Board of Education will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
The Akron High School Class of 2021 will hold its commencement at 7 p.m. on the football field behind the high school on Bloomingdale Avenue.
The first Akron Cruise Night will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 1.
The Akron Community Band is back in the Russell Park Gazebo on Friday, July 2 at 8 p.m. A patriotic concert is planned as the band's season kicks off, continuing each Friday night through Aug. 13.
The Akron Celebration Committee will present fireworks at dusk in Veterans Park on Buell Street on July 3 with the Newstead Fire Company, Exempts, Pink Cow and kettle corn food stands opening in Veterans Park at 5 p.m.
The Akron Celebration Committee 2021 Akron Fourth of July Celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. with Power Wheels Race on Main Street between Church and Clinton streets, followed by a Soapbox Derby.
The Knight-Sutton Museum at 123 Main St. will be open on July 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. There is no admission charge, although donations are welcome. This year's exhibit explores our community's history and development from the local Native Americans to the present day. The exhibit looks at agriculture, business, and our cultural lives from Newstead's early days to the village and town we know today. Tickets for an Amish quilt raffle will be available in front of the Knight-Sutton Museum from 1 to 4 p.m. The quilt is a beauty and will be on display.
The Fourth of July Kiddie Parade, sponsored by Candy Apple Cafe, begins at 4:15 p.m. with a Pirates and Mermaids theme. The Gala Parade begins at 4:30 p.m. with a Candyland theme. The Alexander Band will play in Russell Park following the parade and Craig Wilkins will perform at the Gazebo in Russell Park from 6 to 8 p.m. to wrap up Akron's celebration.
