    The Newstead Historical Society will welcome local historian Susan Eck on Thursday, June 19 in the Newstead Cultural Center, 33 Main St., bottom floor of the library, at 7 p.m. Eck will present her program "Emblem of Equality: Women's Suffrage in WNY." This year marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, grating American women the right to vote. Susan will examine the contributions of many area women to this major movement, its long struggle and its eventual success. Attendance will be in person only.   • 40th Annual Akron Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale

    Downtown Akron Akron, NY

    The annual Akron Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale is planned for Saturday, June 19 in the Main Street business district from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plans include live music, a basket raffle, games, vendors, and local business participation. Participants can sign up on the Akron Chamber of Commerce website. There is no charge for local organizations, churches, and businesses with store fronts on Main Street. Vendors will have a fee. Volunteers to help on Friday evening and/or Saturday are welcome.
