The Akron Lady Lions are planning their second annual Golf Tourney at Destroyer Park Golf, Sandhill Road in Akron, on Saturday, June 5. Music will be provided by DJ Don; door prizes; adult beverage tent; food trucks; basket raffles and silent auctions are part of the event. The Lady Lions are offering two game options this year: an Early Bird Round begins with registration at 2 p.m. with a 3 p.m. shotgun start. A Night Owl Round begins with registration at 6 p.m. and a shotgun start at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at Market on Main, 77 Main St.,
The Market is designed to support all local businesses, organizations and individuals and organizers welcome anyone with a passion for what they do. It will be open on the triangle of Village of Akron property at Cedar Street and Eckerson Ave. on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Starting the last weekend in May through the last Sunday in October. All vendor fees will go back to the community for festivals, family crafts and fundraisers.

A Good for the Neighborhood Drive-Thru Produce Event is planned for Thursday, June 10 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Akron-Newstead Senior Center. This is a first-come, first-service basis and brought to you by Independent Health Foundation and the Akron-Newstead Alliance.
The Newstead Historical Society will welcome local historian Susan Eck on Thursday, June 19 in the Newstead Cultural Center, 33 Main St., bottom floor of the library, at 7 p.m. Eck will present her program "Emblem of Equality: Women's Suffrage in WNY." This year marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, grating American women the right to vote. Susan will examine the contributions of many area women to this major movement, its long struggle and its eventual success. Attendance will be in person only. The Newstead Town Board will hold a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 14 at the Town Hall, 5 Clarence Center Road. The meeting is preceded by a work session at 6:45 p.m.
The annual Akron Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale is planned for Saturday, June 19 in the Main Street business district from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plans include live music, a basket raffle, games, vendors, and local business participation. Participants can sign up on the Akron Chamber of Commerce website. There is no charge for local organizations, churches, and businesses with store fronts on Main Street. Vendors will have a fee. Volunteers to help on Friday evening and/or Saturday are welcome.
