All of those interested in participating in Scouts this year are invited to our signup, kickoff meeting on Monday, Sept. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Akron Masonic Lodge parking lot, 63 John St. We will have hot dogs, beverages and have games provided. The age group will be 11-18 years old, Grade 6 and above. If you enjoy camping, learning lifelong skills and participating in events with students your age, come check out what Scouts has to offer.
The Akron Village Board will meet on Monday, Sept. 14 with a work session at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7 pm.m. at Akron Village Hall, Main Street in Akron. The Newstead Town board will host its regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14 with a work session beginning at 6:45 p.m. The meeting will take place at 5 Clarence Center Road in Akron. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the VFW location at 35 Lewis Road in Akron.
The monthly membership meeting and lunch will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 11:30 a.m. Membership meeting will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch. DO NOT bring a dish to pass and DO NOT bring eating utensils. There will be ham or turkey subs, great company and important information from the board. Reservations are required since space will be limited. Sign up by Sept. 11. Entertainment will be Bob from the Wolcottsville Wildlife Rescue.
