Carol Marconi
Carol Marconi peacefully passed away on August 15, 2021. She was born in Buffalo, NY on September 8, 1932 to the late Walter and Erma (Johnson) Mason.
Carol was a 1950 graduate of Akron Central Schools. She went to Bryant & Stratton Business School and worked at the A&P Supermarket chain on Broadway in Buffalo and at the Erie County Home in 1953 before she got married.
She and Dante Marconi were married on June 12, 1953 and together they raised their three children. She worked alongside Dante for many years in the family business, Dye Insurance. She was a member of Millgrove Bible Church and proudly served as the First Republican Committee woman in Akron-Newstead.
Living in Akron was an integral part of Carol’s life as she enjoyed participating in the Women’s Golf League at Dande Farms, playing bridge in the Bridge Club for many years, and being a member of the Akron House’s Friday Night Manhattan Club. She also enjoyed many a breakfast at Mary’s Good and Plenty. She loved dancing with Dante as they made an exceptional dancing pair.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of over 68 years, Dante Marconi; beloved mother of Michele Maher, Melinda (John) Tipton, and Michael (Christa) Marconi; cherished grandmother of 11: Maria (John) McLaughlin, Kathleen Maher, Patrick (Zoe) Maher, Seamus Maher, Deirdre Maher, Faith (Joe) Sheehan, Mitchell Tipton, Miranda Tipton, Matthew Marconi, Nicole Marconi, Lucas Marconi; proud great- grandmother of 8: James, Ella, Leilani, Cassidy, Ronin, Mason, Declan, and Wyatt. Carol is also survived by a sister, Sandra (Mason) Reinhard and a niece, Brenda Ansel Harper. She is predeceased by a sister, Jean Mason Ansel.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, NY 14001. Charitable donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
