Carole Jonathan

Carole Jonathan went home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2021. She was born in Gowanda, New York on June 29, 1937 to the late Jerry and Nancy (Burr) Plummer.

A 1955 graduate of Gowanda High School, she went on to further her studies at the Prairie Bible Institute in Canada and Appalachian Bible Institute in Virginia, and was very proud to be a co-founder of the Fellowship of Indian Churches.

She was married to the late Parker Jonathan for over 48 years. Together they raised four children and became the third generation to continue the gospel music legacy as the Parker Jonathan Family.

Music was an integral part of Carole’s life. She played piano in the family group and also taught many to play the piano. She was also a member of the Iroquois Indian Concert and Marching Band playing piccolo. Her gift as an accomplished pianist brought other opportunities such as playing for choirs, dance recitals, soloists, groups, special meetings, and the beloved “pianoramas”.

After her children were grown and married, she and her husband continued to travel and minister and accept invitations far and near to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Besides her love for the piano, she enjoyed being a housewife, gardening, camping, reading, spending time with her family and friends, and serving the Lord anyway she could.

Carole is survived by her loving children Parker Jonathan Jr., David (JoAnn) Jonathan, Mark (Charlene) Jonathan and Kathy (Glenn) Bloom III; cherished grandmother of Marci (Tom) Redband, Nathan Jonathan, Micah Bloom, Valerie Bloom, Luke Jonathan and Hannah Jonathan. Beloved sister of Geraldine Gates, Mary Elizabeth Huff, Jacklin Bennett, Jerry Plummer Jr., and Toni Williams. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. She is predeceased by two sisters, Nanette (Sue) Gates and Patricia Jimerson.

Friends and relatives called on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Highpoint Community Church, 1163 Main St., Corfu, NY and from 9 a.m., until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021.
