Newstead Town Board members made appointments, set policies, and adopted a meeting calendar during their 2024 organizational meeting on January 2. Regular meetings Regular meetings of the Newstead Town Board continue on the second and fourth Monday of each month in 2024. Work sessions preceding each Board Meeting begin at 6:45 p.m., with the regular meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m. Work sessions are scheduled the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. when not conflicting with a holiday. Rich-Twinn Octagon House is decorated for an old fashioned 1850’s Victorian Christmas and open for tours. The NHS “Highlights of the Octagon” tours takes place on Sundays, December 3, December 10, and December 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. There reduced fees for youth 11 -17 years old and children 5 and under tour for free.

Memorial Ride to honor former Town of Newstead Supervisor David L. Cummings

A Memorial Ride with the Patriot Guard, Newstead Fire Company, friends, and family will honor David Larry Cummings, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 21, 2023. The ride begins at the Ross Funeral Home on Eckerson Avenue at 11:45 a.m. this Saturday, July 1 and will travel through the Village of Akron before ending at the Newstead Fire Hall, where there will be a reception.
