Hometown Hero banners dedication planned Friday

Akron DPW has been installing Hometown Heroes banners in the village. The banners will be dedicated on Friday, September 16 at 7 p.m., according to Kristy Pingitore who chairs the program.  All are welcome to the dedication which will take place in Russell Park. The banners will stay in place from installation this Fall throughout 2023, according to Pinigtore. Opportunities to participate in Bi-Centennial continue to emerge

The Town of Newstead Bi-Centennial Committee continues to work on plans for the 2023 observance.  Although 2023 seems a long way off, it takes many months to plan a huge celebration.  The bicentennial committee has tentative plans for a scavenger hunt, children’s activities, garden walk, cruise night/taste of Akron, Native American day, and many varied activities.  They welcome your participation in this planning.

Governor in Newstead for ribbon cutting

Governor Kathy Hochul and Town of Newstead Supervisor David L. Cummings were among state and local officials who celebrated the commissioning of Western New York’s newest large-scale electric transmission line, Empire State Line on Monday morning. Governor Hochul spoke on the importance of clean energy.
