Opportunities to participate in Bi-Centennial continue to emerge

The Town of Newstead Bi-Centennial Committee continues to work on plans for the 2023 observance.  Although 2023 seems a long way off, it takes many months to plan a huge celebration.  The bicentennial committee has tentative plans for a scavenger hunt, children’s activities, garden walk, cruise night/taste of Akron, Native American day, and many varied activities.  They welcome your participation in this planning.

Governor in Newstead for ribbon cutting

Governor Kathy Hochul and Town of Newstead Supervisor David L. Cummings were among state and local officials who celebrated the commissioning of Western New York’s newest large-scale electric transmission line, Empire State Line on Monday morning. Governor Hochul spoke on the importance of clean energy. Garbage pick-up delayed

All trash routes in the Town of Newstead and Village of Akron are delayed this week. Friday routes are pushed to Saturday. Joseph M. Hickman Strategic/Municipal Sales Manager said, “With the current spike around our community and country of COVID-19 cases, we may experience service delays in your area. The safety of our employees and our customers is our highest priority, and we are working to ensure you are serviced as close to the expected service date as possible. Friday routes may push to Saturday, please leave garbage out if it is not collected on Friday. “
