The Newstead Public Library reopened its doors on Monday. “We are so excited to open our doors once again!” Librarian Kristine Sutton said. The hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday 1 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday and Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz has signed a Local Emergency Order signed today, June 2 2020 establishing a curfew for Erie County beginning at 8:00 p.m. tonight and ending at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3 2020. Please note that essential personnel who are scheduled to work during the curfew hours are EXEMPT and can report to work. These essential employees should carry their work badge or other I.D. to identify themselves in the event they are stopped by law enforcement.

Akron Farmers Market put on hold for a year
Akron Village Board members learned Monday night that organizers of West Shore Market, the new Farmers Market which was set to open on the Village of Akron property on Eckerson Ave. and Cedar Street this spring, have decided to postpone the market until 2021, in light of the current COVID-19 situation.
