Upon graduating from Buffalo High School, Yono went on to honorably serve his country during WWII in Central Europe from 1941 to 1948. As part of the 300th Engineer Combat Battalion, he served under Army Gen. George S. Patton Jr., aka “Old Blood and Guts.”.
