Following an open opportunity to submit ideas for a new athletic logo and three rounds of voting to narrow the selections, Akron Central is proud to have a new logo to represent the Akron Tigers. Voting wrapped up on Friday, October 11, 2024, following the school’s Spirit Week and Homecoming festivities.

Akron Central’s varsity field hockey team clinched their first league win against the Barker Bulldogs with a final score of 3-0 on Saturday. Morgan Tomporowski got the ball rolling in the first quarter scoring at 9:03 with an assist from Mackenzie Tomporowski. Then, in the second quarter, Julia Klodzinski added to the score netting two goals – the first assisted by Morgan Tomporowski. The team goalkeeper Marissa Brege not only achieved a shutout but also recorded six saves, facing a penalty corner and one shot on goal.

Akron Central’s competition cheerleading squad completed a busy schedule with honors during the first week of February. They attended the Attica Winter Wonderland Classic on Sunday, February 4 where the team had zero deductions (Hit Zero) for the first time this season and finished 2nd in their division. The stunt group of Madelyn Monkelbaan, Olivia Asmus, Amelia Ewing and Morgan Maggiore took a second place finish in the stunt-off. The team took the mat again on Wednesday, February 7, this time up in Newfane for the Niagara Orleans All League Competition. The squad again Hit Zero and finished 2nd overall
