Chamber and Sanctuary offer spooky fun this weekend

Akron Chamber of Commerce and White Whiskers Senior Dog Sanctuary have teamed up to offer some spooky fun this weekend.

They invite everyone to join them for “a spine-tingling good time!”  Costumes are encouraged for all ages attending as well as for your dogs.  An invitation is extended for those in costume to march in a Howl-O-Ween Dog Parade down Main Street on Saturday, October 26, starting at 2 p.m.  All are welcome, whether or not there is a dog involved.

The parade begins at the Akron Fire Hall and follows a route past all the shops along Main Street where many of the merchants will be offering candy. (Trick or Treat bags suggested.)

Once at Russell Park, there will be ice cream and popcorn treats available from The Pink Cow and Papa’s Popcorn and the BeWitched Dance Troupe will entertain. You can also shake the creepy hand of Beetlejuice and there will be kids’ games to play, and kids’ prizes to win.

Everything will wind down by 5 p.m., so there will be time to enjoy dinner from one of Akron’s delicious eateries.

“Don’t be left out! Meet us at the Akron Fire Hall at 2 p.m. and get ready to PAW-TY!” organizers invite.
