Delivery schedule of meals available for ACS students during COVID-19 school closure changed

The Nutrition Services Department at Akron Central Schools has implemented a meal program for students during the COVID-19 school closure.  However, the original number of days that meals are available has been reduced.

Breakfast and lunch will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only. Both meals will be distributed at the same time for consumption off site.

All children are eligible to receive meals regardless of free, reduced or full pay status.  Meals are provided at no cost to families.  Parents and guardians may pick-up meals on the students’ behalf; children do not need to be present in order for their meals to be provided.

Meals are available for pick-up between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. each day from a single access point from the front bus loop.  Students will receive a breakfast meal and lunch meal intended for the following day.

Meals are distributed through a ONE-WAY drive-up service; drivers enter at the high school end of the bus loop and exit on the elementary side.  Drivers and/or passengers must remain in their vehicle.  Cars should remain in the designated lane and refrain from double-parking.

Alternative meals for students with dietary issues will be accommodated.  Please contact the Nutrition Services Office at (716)542-5027 to ensure that meals are available.

All families are encouraged to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the meal distribution site after receiving meals.  Additionally, wash hands often, sneeze and cough into a tissue, and stay home if you are not feeling well.
