Donald E. Hake

Donald E. Hake of Elbridge, New York, born on March 2, 1935 in Akron, NY left this earthly world on April 2, 2022.

Donald was a Cornell graduate in 1955, served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964 receiving an honorable discharge, and began his career as a teacher in Middlesex NY.  He was later employed by New Process Gear in East Syracuse for 33 years, retiring in 2004.

Donald was a long-time member of the Morning Star Lodge #524 F&AM Marcellus, and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Auburn.

He was an avid gardener spending numerous hours grooming his extensive roadside flower bed, tending his boundless vegetable garden, and caring for his many water gardens.

Donald was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Pearl (Nice) Hake, and in 2004 by his son Bret.  He leaves behind his wife of 62 years Shirley Ann (Bauer) Hake; sons Brian (Kim), and Bruce (Dawn); 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.

Calling hours were from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7 at the Bush Funeral Home, 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5) Elbridge. Masonic Services were at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by a prayer service at 7:15 p.m.
