Edward J. Benzing

Edward J. Benzing passed away peacefully on July 14, 2022.

Ed was born on July 29, 1930.  He graduated from Burgard High School in 1949 and completed an additional year of training to receive his Aircraft and Engine Mechanic license and certification through the FAA.  Ed honorably served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at the Niagara Falls Air Force Base.  He worked at Xerox for many years until his retirement.

Ed was married to the love of his life for 28 years, the late Mary Ann (Smith) Benzing.  He enjoyed good food, hunting, boating, and spending time outdoors with his wife and family and friends.

Ed is survived by his dear friends, Caroline and Christopher Alterio; his daughter, Nicole (Robert) Agnello; his four stepchildren, Deborah Whalen, Kathleen (Charles) Purdy, Michael Whalen and Mark (Leslie) Whalen; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard (late Kiyoko) Lepsch and his beloved mother Ida (Benzing) Lepsch.  Ed will be missed by Natale, his Pomeranian, who was a constant and loyal companion.

Friends and family called on Sunday, July 17, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC., 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, NY 14001. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 5771 Buell Street Akron, NY, followed by entombment at Huskey Cemetery in Lockport, NY.
