Farrar accepts Superintendent position at West Valley
ACS begins search for new Director of Educational Services
Akron Central School began a search for a new Director of Educational Services this week, following the resignation of Dr. Taweepon Farrar who has accepted a position as the new superintendent for West Valley Central School District in Cattaraugus County.
“I am grateful to Dr. Farrar for her support and guidance during my first 19 months at ACS,” stated Mr. Patrick D. McCabe, Akron’s Superintendent, in an email to faculty and staff. “Her knowledge, skill set, and command of District operations has been invaluable. She is well qualified to serve as Superintendent of Schools and I am excited for her as she takes on the next chapter in her career.”
Dr. Farrar began her career with Akron Schools as the assistant high school principal in August of 2007. She later became the Director of Special Education before her current role as Director of Educational Services. She is slated to officially begin her duties at West Valley, Home of the Wildcats, on March 8th.
The search for Dr. Farrar’s replacement began on February 8 with a posting to the Akron Schools’ website as well as the Western New York Regional Information Center website. Qualified candidates with SDA, SDL or SBL certification with at least five years of experience in UPK-12 public education administration are encouraged to view the job posting at www.akronschools.org. The timetable for the search as well as the posting, job description and link to the electronic application is now posted.
