Final Akron Community Band Summer 2024 concert set for Friday
One concert remains in the 101st summer season of the Akron Community Band. This Friday, August 16 they will play in the Russell Park Gazebo, Main Street, Akron at 8 p.m. featuring Summer Block Party music from such groups as Queen, Bruno Mars, the Foo Fighters, The White Stripes and ColdPlay, as well as some traditional favorites.
Akron Community Band is under the direction of Holly Meides and Karlyn Backus.
All concerts are free to the public. Lawn chairs and blankets are recommended. There is some seating available in Russell Park.
The band presents varied programs with marches, show tunes, novelty numbers, overtures, pop tunes, and others.
There is no rain location this year. The band does everything possible to get a concert in each Friday night. Unless the radar shows there is no possibility of clearing by 8 p.m. the band will not cancel the concert prior to its scheduled start.

Newstead Historical Society will have refreshments for sale before and during the concert.
