Four days with family friendly activities planned during Akron Fourth of July Celebration
The Fourth of July Celebration in Akron has activities planned from July 1 through July 4.
The Akron Chamber of Commerce Cruise Night “revs up” the action from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Main Street. Food in the Russell Park refreshment stand sponsored by Akron First UMC.
Akron Community Band is back in the Russell Park gazebo on Friday, July 2 at 8:00 p.m. A patriotic concert is planned as the band’s season kicks off, continuing each Friday night through August 13.
Akron Celebration Committee will present fireworks at dusk in Veterans Park on Buell Street on July 3 with the Newstead Fire Co., Exempts, Pink cow and Kettle corn Food stands opening in Veterans Park at 5 p.m.
Akron Celebration Committee 2021 Akron Fourth of July Celebration kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with Power Wheels Race on Main Street between Church and Clinton St., followed by a Soapbox Derby on Main Street between Church and Clinton on the 4th.
Chicken Barbecue begins at 11:30 a.m. and Food stands provided by Newstead Fire Company Exempts, Pink Cow, and Kettle Corn are planned.
Wolcottsville Wildlife will be in Russell Park as well as Face Painting.
The Knight Sutton Museum, Main St. is open from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Newstead Historical Society will be selling tickets for a chance on an Amish Quilt in front of the museum, with the drawing made at the parade.
The Kiddie parade sponsored by Candy Apple Café, begins at 4:15 p.m. with a Pirates and Mermaids theme. The Gala Parade begins at 4:30 p.m. with a Candyland theme.
The Alexander Band will play in Russell Park following the parade and Craig Wilkins will perform in the Gazebo in Russell Park from 6 to 8 p.m. to wrap up Akron’s Celebration.
