Free meal distribution for ages 0-18 begins at Wright Center

The C Dee Wright Community Ministry Center, in conjunction with Pembroke Central School and the New York State and Federal Funded National School meals for ages 0-18 years old low-income students will be distributing free breakfast and lunch beginning July 13 and running through August 20, 2020.

The Pick UP and GO Meals will be distributed in front of the Wright Center from 9 to 11 a.m. three mornings a week: Monday, Breakfast and Lunch; Tuesday, 2 Breakfast – 2 Lunches – to carry over for 2 days; and Thursday, Breakfast and Lunch.  It is open to all families with children in the Akron Central School district on a first come, first serve basis, until all are distributed.

Only one representative of each family is allowed to walk up, the rest will wait in their car, or be 6 feet apart, as per COVID-19 guidelines for safety.  Each family is asked the number of children for the family, and the children come to and pick up the meals following social distancing guidelines, no signatures or paperwork to fill out is needed.

“Pembroke will prepare the meals and then place them into carry out containers, and Wright Center volunteers will pick them up, and provide the area for distribution following COID-19 guidelines,” Wright Center Director Judy Moore notes.

She is looking for help from community volunteers to help with the distribution.  PPE will be provided.  Also welcome are donations of PPE and hand sanitizer.

If you, or an organization, business, or church of which you are a part, are interested in helping in any way, please contact Moore at judymoore6963@gmail.com
