Garbage pickup delayed again this week

Please note that trash collection scheduled for today, October 8, in the Town of Newstead will be delayed by one day according to Modern Disposal. “We apologize for the service delay and appreciate your cooperation and understanding,” a company spokesperson said.

Both the Town of Newstead and Village of Akron have learned that staffing shortages at Modern may delay garbage pickups for the near future.

Residents are encouraged to put garbage and recyclables out on Fridays as usual. If it is not picked up Friday they will pick it up on Saturday.

 If your garbage is not picked up by Saturday call the Newstead Town Hall or Akron Village Hall the next business day.  New drivers may take time getting to know the routes and some streets have been missed in recent weeks.
