Genesee County Sheriff’s Office investigating a fatal collision on Bloomingdale Road

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal one car vehicle collision that occurred on Bloomingdale Road in the Town of Alabama on July 20, 2025 .  The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received the 9-1-1 call reporting the personal injury accident at 3:14 p.m.

Upon arrival, patrols identified the operator of the vehicle as Justin J. Blasko, age 36, of Akron, New York.  Blasko was the operator and sole occupant of a black 1998 BMW 4 door sedan traveling eastbound on Bloomingdale Road.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Blasko was traveling eastbound, when he attempted to passed another vehicle also traveling east bound  Blasko lost control of the vehicle and exited the north shoulder of the roadway, ultimately striking a tree before coming to rest on the vehicle’s roof  Blasko was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Genesee County Coroner’s Office.

At this time the accident is still under investigation by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Crash Management Team.  Assisting at the scene were members of the Genesee County Coroner’s Office, Alabama Fire Department and Akron Fire Department.
