Harold J. Bergquist
Harold J. Bergquist “Jim”, went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2022, after a long battle fighting cancer. He was born in Buffalo, New York on October 29, 1945 to the late Harold E. and Jane (Goss) Bergquist.
Jim was a 1963 graduate of Royalton/Hartland High school. After high school he went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. He took great pride in restoring his 1953 Willy’s Army Jeep, and had been a member of MVPA (Military Vehicle Preservation Association) where he often took part in military reenactments and parades. He was especially proud of the many first place Classic Car awards his jeep received.
He retired from Harrison Radiator after 35 years of service. He then worked many years after establishing his own “Quest Trucking” business. Jim enjoyed boating and was an avid fisherman who often made his own fishing lures. He especially loved watching NASCAR races, College football, and the NFL; with Notre Dame & Buffalo Bills being his favorite teams.
Jim is survived by his loving family: his wife of 48 years, Cathy (Lindke) Bergquist; his children, Jacqueline (Will) Worden, Harold “Ed” Bergquist, and Jaime Bergquist; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his brother, David Bergquist.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service starting promptly at 12:00 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6369 Wolcottsville Rd, Akron, NY 14001.
