Harold Keith Frey, Sr.

Harold Keith Frey, Sr. entered into rest July 23, 2021.  He was born August 3, 1934 to Mary and Christian Frey, both lifetime Clarence Center residents.

Harold was the owner/operator of a family-run business H.K. Frey and Son Plumbing and Heating, Inc. for 40 years before retiring in 2002.

He was a previous Master of the Niagara Masonic Lodge #375, a life member of the Clarence Center Volunteer Fire Co., and served on the Town of Clarence Planning Board for many years.

In his spare time, Harold was an avid hunter and fisherman, and very involved with horses.  He was not only a lifetime member of the Western New York Quarter Horse Club, he was the club’s largest influencer. The club promoted the American Quarter Horse. This led him to the development of his own AQHA shows within the Western New York Counties called the Spring Fling QH shows. He managed these shows for 46 years. He promoted the horse industry and encouraged everyone in the horse community. He was also an active polo player in his younger years, when he owned and operated Pine Lane Stables in Clarence Center. There weren’t many horse people he wasn’t connected to across the country.

Beloved husband of 67 years to the late Beth (nee Honsberger); beloved father of James (Susan), Steven (Barbara), Sharol, Harold, Jr. (Kimberly), and the late Russell Frey; loving grandfather of Anne Martell (Jamie Flury), Bret (Kylie) Martell, Curt (Alexa) Martell, Dana Martell (Ben Wachter), Alyssa (Ross) Orlando (nee Frey), Rachel Frey, Sarah (Michael) Ryerson (nee Frey), Lydia Frey, Zachary Frey, and Lauren Chance; loving great grandfather of Riley Martell; dear brother to Dorothy Damiani, Grace Pleskovich, and the late Robert Frey, Donna Yousey, and Elizabeth Anderson; uncle to several nieces and nephews; and faithful companion to his dog Ella who was always by his side.

To honor Harold’s life, the family will be present to receive family and friends on Thursday, August 19 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Clarence Center Fire Hall, with a dinner reception to immediately follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Clarence Church of Christ, 5375 Old Goodrich Road, Clarence, NY 14031.
