Henry A. Ciurzynski
Henry A. Ciurzynski, 85, of Akron, New York, passed away on June 5, 2025. He was born in Akron, NY, on October 22, 1939, to the late Henry and Julia (Wronowicz) Ciurzynski.
A lifelong resident of Akron, Henry worked for General Motors as an auto worker, contributing to the manufacturing industry of the region. Henry had a zest for life that was contagious. He was known for his love of sports, particularly basketball and track, often attending high school games and meets long after his son’s graduation.
An accomplished athlete in his own right, he broke records as an Empire State High Jumper at the age of 45. His interests extended beyond sports; he was an avid antique collector, often buying and selling unique pieces. He spent many enjoyable hours woodworking, visiting flea markets, and going to the casino. Many will remember the pleasure he took in sharing a coffee with his friends.
Henry is survived by his son, Ryan (Susan) Ciurzynski, and his beloved grandchildren, Alison and Amanda Ciurzynski. He also leaves behind his cherished sisters, Barbara Mullaney, Suzanne (William) Cowan, and Janice (Richard) Reynolds. In addition to his parents and his wife, Nancy Ciurzynski, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Smith.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at St. Teresa Of Avila Church, 5771 Buell Street, Akron, NY 14001.
