Hometown Heroes banners dedicated
Hometown Heroes banners were dedicated on Friday, September 16 with sponsoring families received a plaque with an image of their poster. Akron Chamber of Commerce and Village of Akron officials were present.
The banners will stay in place from installation this Fall throughout 2023, according to Kristy Pingitore, who chairs the program.
Akron Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Hometown Heroes Banner Program. This program serves as a tribute to recognize current Service Members and Veterans from the Akron/Newstead area who have served or who are serving our country in a branch of the military.
Each individual banner honors a specific Akron/Newstead Service Member or Veteran and will include his or her picture, branch of service and era of Service.
Banners will be displayed on poles around The Village of Akron through Veteran’s Day 2023. Individuals and families who sponsored a banner will receive that banner when it is retired.
