June H. LeClaire
June H. LeClaire, 97 of Akron, New York passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 23, 1924 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late John and Euphemia Kirkland Hannah.
In her early years, she was responsible for publishing the technical materials from the Engineering Department at Bell Aircraft. An accomplished artist, she enjoyed exhibiting her work in many WNY art shows.
After raising her family, she pursued her dream and in 1985 received her MFA from the University at Buffalo. Her other interests included photography, gardening, and bird watching.
Although never wanting pets of her own, a special bond developed with her little grand-dog Bitsy, who enjoyed riding in her lap around the nursing home.
She was the beloved mother of Jackie (Mark) Krueger, Suzette (Richard) Travis and Phillip (Mary Ann) LeClaire. Loving grandmother of Ken (Carrie) McCoy, Ben (Erin Wetter) Plaza and Leenna (Garth) Schulte. Step-grandmother of Aaron (Robin) Krueger, Michele Farrell, Mike (Nicole) Farrell and Jessica Farrell; 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by cousin Connie (Bob) Berry, many nieces and nephews. Dear longtime friend Barbara Barone. Anita Pawlak, who cared for mom while still home, became and remained a close friend. Heidi (David) Pasqualini, family friend with whom she shared a special friendship.
June was predeceased by her loving brother John Hannah.
To the Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, a heartfelt thank you for the almost 5 years of wonderful care. Thank you also to Hospice Buffalo for guidance and care these past few months.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
