Lisa M. Stang

It is with great sadness that the family of Lisa M. Stang announces her passing on Sunday, May 09, 2021 at Kennestone Hospital, Marietta, Georgia. Born August 8, 1966 in Batavia, New York, Lisa spent her early years on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation in NY.

In 1975, Lisa’s father joined the Air Force. She graduated from Woodbridge High School, RAF Bentwaters, UK in 1984. After graduation, she returned to the states where she met and married Mike Stang in 1988. A month later, Lisa enlisted in the Air Force as a medical technician. After 4 years of military service, Lisa enrolled in college and earned a 5-year BSN degree from Niagara University. In 1999, Lisa and her husband moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area where she was employed by Cobb Hospital until she passed. Lisa was also an active member of Harvest Baptist Church, Acworth, Georgia for 20 years.

Along with being a well-respected mother-baby nurse, she was homeschool mom of 3 boys, a business entrepreneur, and faithful friend to many. Every Wednesday, Lisa would drop by an elderly widow’s house after a long work day, have tea and chat for hours. There were times Lisa would stop by to see if a young mom needed help with her little ones.

However, this does not mean Lisa was all work and no play. She would be the first to say, “I’m in!” Whether it was joining a friend on a business trip to Paris, a last minute junket to Magnolia Farms in Texas, floating lazily downstream with a friend on an inner tube, or cruising around with long time girlfriends searching for pieces of younger years, Lisa’s hearty laugh and mischievous giggles gave life to gatherings. She will especially be remembered for saying, “There’s an oil for that!” Lisa wore many hats and she wore them well.

Lisa will be lovingly remembered by Michael L. Stang, husband of 33 years; 3 sons (Parker, 19; Quentin, 15; and Elliott, 14) of Kennesaw, GA; parents, Edward and Shelley DuPont of Basom, NY; twin sister, Lori M. Popielski of Quidersbach, Germany; brothers, Trevyr C. DuPont of Lawton, OK, Niles C. DuPont of Malone, NY; father, John Potter of Holley, NY; mother in law, Lydia Stang of Clarence Center, NY; and 3 brothers in law (Jason, David, and Jared Stang) along with their wives and families, as well as many relatives and friends.

A “Gathering” will be held at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC., 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, New York from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 23. A Celebration of Life will be held June 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tonawanda Indian Baptist Church, Basom, New York. Lisa will be escorted to the Veteran’s National Cemetery in Pembroke, New York for a 2:00 interment. Trevyr C. DuPont (brother) will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather at the home of Edward and Shelley DuPont, 734 Bloomingdale Road, Basom, New York starting at 4:00 to share memories and a meal.
