Loretta Ann Printup Hooks-Mims
A service for Mrs. Loretta Ann Printup Hooks-Mims, who died the morning of December 28, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital, is planned for October 17, at the Tonawanda Indian Baptist Church, 565 Bloomingdale Rd Basom, NY, beginning at 3 p.m.
Born January 8, 1934, she was a resident of the Tonawanda Seneca Indian Reservation in Basom, New York and a member of the Turtle Clan.
She received her early education at Akron Central School in Akron New York and her nursing education at White Plains Hospital School of Nursing, White Plains, New York. She was a Registered Nurse, specializing in Critical Care most of her career, and also worked as a travel nurse.
She was predeceased by all of her immediate family: her parents Mr. Theodore Printup and Mrs. Dorothy Olson; her brother, Allen Wayne Printup; her stepfather, Mr. Otto Olson; both husbands, Mr. Garland Epps Sr., and Mr. Melvin Hooks-Mims; her son’s, Mr. Garland Epps Jr., and Mr. Allen Wayne Epps.
She grew up in the Presbyterian church in Basom, New York. Later she became a member of the Episcopal Church. Finally, she became a dedicated member of the Tonawanda Indian Baptist Church in Basom, New York.
Mourning her loss are her grandchildren Garland Traynell Epps, Turon Epps, Precious Epps, and their children. Her sisterly cousin, Roberta Mitten, and her extended family Eric and Katie Mitten, Ann and Gary Parker, and their children; also loving cousins, Gary Moses, Lloyd Moses, Lance and Annajean Blackchief.
