Madeline Teresa Gabalski
Madeline Teresa Gabalski (maiden name Mineo) went to her eternal rest on Friday May 23, 2025, at the age of 82. She was the beloved wife of 63 years to Walter Leo Gabalski Junior. Madeline was the mother of Walter (Kristina) Gabalski, Anita (Donald) Trautwein, Daniel (Lisa) Gabalski, Ronald (Mary) Gabalski and David (Brandy) Gabalski. She and her husband have 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Born on August 27, 1942, Madeline is predeceased by her parents Alfio Mineo and Josephine Mineo. She is also predeceased by her three siblings Romilda Jones, Thomas Mineo and Josephine Bucino.
Madeline was employed as a School Food Service Helper in the Alden Central School District for 25 years. She spent an equal number of years in the employment of Joseph’s Country Manor and Catering in Depew.
Madeline attended St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Alden, where she was a lector and a long-time member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Marilla Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Alden and Marilla Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed senior bowling at the Alden Bowling Center.
While she was raising her children Madeline was a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 117 at St. John’s Church. She was a member of the Alden High School Band Boosters, and a Board Member for the FIC Foundation for International Cooperation student exchange program. Madeline was active in the Alden Ladies Home Bureau. She enjoyed bowling on the Wednesday night ladies league and the Sunday night couples league at Alden Lanes.
Born and raised in the City of Buffalo, Madeline attended Lafayette High School. As a child she was a frequent visitor to the Crystal Beach, Ontario where her family had a summer cottage.
Madeline became engaged to Walter Leo Gabalski Jr. in 1960. They quickly began to build the home that they would occupy after their marriage. She raised her children and resided in their Marilla residence with her husband for the rest of her life. She was the heart of her family, as God called her to be. She is greatly missed by her loved ones.
The calling hours were held Tuesday May 27, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Charles Meyer Funeral Home, 13228 Broadway Alden, NY.
