Marilyn (Hackman) Mast

There will be a public memorial service at Clarence Center-Akron Mennonite Church, 11500 Clarence Center Road, Akron, NY on July 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. for Marilyn (Hackman) Mast who passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023.

She was born on January 25, 1932 in Souderton, Pennsylvania to Wilmer and Alice Hackman and was a long-time Clarence, New York resident.  In 1952 she married Albert Hartz Mast and they were married for 57 years at the time of his passing in 2009.

Marilyn’s faith in God empowered her to be a spiritual pillar for late husband, 8 children, 24 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren. The Mast family numbers 104.

She meant to leave for the mission field as a young woman and then Albert showed up on her front porch.  Instead she married and raised a family.  However, it came full circle when she went on missions trips and did relief work later in life after her husband passed away.

She enjoyed singing, house plants, gardening, food preservation, and even teaching nursery school. For the past couple decades she gifted hundreds of crocheted snowflake ornaments to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren every year on their birthdays.

She is survived by her loving family including: 4 siblings; Kathryn Eckman, Dennis Hackman, Ruth Ann Kulp, Stephen Hackman, 8 children; Gwen (David) Eubanks, Louise (Gary) Bishop, Ronald (Waneta) Mast, LaMar (Julie) Mast, Ruby (Thomas) Baldwin, Gerald (Sheryl) Mast, Leon (Bridget) Mast, Grace (Keith) Albrecht, 24 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren.

Marilyn will be laid to rest privately in Good Cemetery, Clarence, NY.

The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Care-A-Van Ministries, Inc., 4 Lewis Avenue, Batavia, NY 14020. To share memories and condolences with Marilyn’s family please visit rossakron.com.
